Sierra Timberworks was inspired by my love of the mountains... my happy place, if you will. Our small town of Clovis, CA is known as the 'Gateway To The Sierras' and is nestled at the base of this iconic mountain range. We draw inspiration from the rugged beauty of the Sierra Nevada's mighty trees & chiseled granite & seek to capture the essence of that rugged, wild beauty in the products we create.
As a career photographer & media producer, I use the camera to capture beauty & tell meaningful stories. As an artisanal woodworker (my other passion project) it's the same principle: I use wood-shaping tools to transform old timber, revealing its natural beauty & creating something new with its own story.
All of the wood we work with is either reclaimed or has been sustainably sourced, so that ours, and all of the forests of our world are preserved.
Hello & thanks for dropping in... I"m John the founder of Sierra Timberworks. As a career photographer who uses a camera to capture beauty & tell stories, I find that using wood shaping tools to create something beautiful & sublime feeds the artistic soul in a unique manner. As a kid my Dad had us building decks & using power tools before we could even reach the workbench. Building props & scenery in studio over the years has been great & now I’m excited to create pieces for the public. Thanks for taking the time to visit, if you see something you like, or are interested in a custom piece, give us a shout.
